Jennifer Abercrombie Jennifer Abercrombie was born in Derbyshire, England, in 1966. After taking her baccalaureate in computer sciences, she obtained employment in the Aero-Engine Manufacturing Division of Rolls-Royce PLC, eventually becoming a Systems Project Leader. She first began exploring Greece and Turkey in 1988 and relocated to the latter country in 1994. In 1995 she took employment as co-manager of marina facilities at the Club Marina in Gocek. There she obtained proficiency in facilities management as well as an appreciation for the needs and wishes of both the charter yacht community and holiday-goers. She also acquired a fluency with the Turkish language and experience working with both Turkish nationals and others from different parts of the world. Her knowledge of Turkey and experience with its culture, cuisine, and holiday-goers, together with her love of sailing and people, help Mrs. Abercrombie provide TGE guests the support they need while on board, coming, and going.

Ayca Ciftcibasi Twenty-six years of age, Ayca (Aycha) Ciftcibasi was raised in Antalya, Turkey, studying at Antalya Anatolian High School. During high school she spent one year as a student in Russia. Currently a student at Marmara University in Istanbul, she is studying Political and Administrative Sciences in French. She has visited Hungary and Switzerland as an exchange student and the United States working at odd jobs. In Turkey she has worked for several NGOs, sung for a band which competed at the 2000 Balkan Youth Festival, and worked at ancient Olympos. She is fluent in English, Russian, and French and able to converse in Spanish and German. Ayca loves to cook and produces a fine Turkish cuisine.

Wilma De Haan Wilma De Haan was born in Zaandam, The Netherlands, in 1958, soon moving to Haarlem. She studied languages first at the University of Amsterdam and later at the University of Vienna. Wilma has resided in Turkey for the past twenty years. Prior to signing on as TGE crew, Wilma operated her own restaurant in Gocek and later co-managed with Jennifer Abercrombie the Club Marina restaurant, again in Gocek. She is part owner of a business chartering yachts sailing in both Turkey and Greece. She also owns her own sloop-rigged sailboat. Wilma is fluent in six languages including English, French, German, Greek, and Turkish, and is a wonderful cook.

Melissa Goring was born in Surrey, England, in 1975. As a student in Surrey she competed in running, biking, and swimming triathlons. Obtaining a Sports and Recreation Diploma, she is accomplished at Swedish and sports rehabilitation massage and is a qualified nutrition, personal training, swimming, and fitness instructor. Melissa has spent much of her working life abroad as a sports councilor at two summer camps in the United States, as a ski instructor at Les Gets in the Porte du Soleil area of France, and for four years as the recreation manager at the Towers Rotana Hotel in Dubai. Currently a resident of Yalikavak on the Bodrum Peninsula, she is studying Turkish and honing her sailing skills.

Christina Lenahan A Greek-American native of Marietta, Georgia, Christina Lenahan is a 26 year-old graduate of the University of Georgia where she was a Dean's List student majoring in Graphic Design. Among under-graduate accomplishments she is a two-time AAU Junior Olympic Gold Medalist in weightlifting. An off-season resident of New York City, Christina is personable, an eager sailor, and a fine cook. She can also take matters into her own hands.

Adi Maimon Thirty years of age, Adi Maimon was raised on a kibbutz in Israel. Completing her national service in the Israeli Air Force, Adi became a kindergarten teacher before obtaining her bachelors degree in marine science from Michmoret Nautical School. She is a qualified yacht skipper and has an advanced open water diving certificate. She is also a master of vegetarian cuisine. When not crewing aboard the TGE Adi may be found studying environmental science, in the summer at Tilos, in the winter at post-graduate school.

Isabelle Outin Isabelle Outin was born in France in 1959. After studying languages at university she lectured at the University of Wisconsin in Madison for one year, then moved to Britain where she taught both at university and secondary level for fifteen years. She has now returned to France where she teaches at the secondary level in Paris. Over the past ten years she has regularly visited Turkey during school break. She enjoys the country and its culture as well as sailing in both Greece and Turkey. Isabelle speaks French, English, and German, and is a wonderful cook.

Sarah Paterson Born in Yorkshire in 1965 and schooled in Somerset, Sarah has since lived in many countries. Following a period of working in the financial heart of London she managed a one-year sabbatical and sailed across the Atlantic from England to the Caribbean. Life there proved so good that one year turned into five! Now back in the UK she sails regularly both on her own small yacht and crewing for others. Brigitte-Anne Pelletier Brigitte Pelletier was born in Montreal, Canada, in 1961. Later living in Algeria, Trinidad, and Mexico, she returned to Montreal to pursue a degree in Women's Studies at Concordia University, subsequently working as a screen actress. Fluent in English, French, and Spanish, she is learning Turkish. Brigitte's passion for sailing was inherited from her father and grandfather, both sea captains, while her charm and easy manner come naturally. She is accomplished in the galley.

Beverley Schwarz Beverley Schwarz is a resident of Gocek, Turkey, and a native of Cape Town, South Africa. Thirty-six years of age, Beverley has previously crewed a 28-meter classic schooner and a 34-meter Jongert in the western Mediterranean as well as a 44-meter motor yacht in Gocek. In addition to sailing proficiency she has an open-water diving certificate and considerable haute cuisine experience. Her own sloop-rigged yacht was a 2002 Gocek Regatta winner. Beverley speaks English, Afrikaans, and Turkish.

Sinead Walker Sinead Walker is an energetic and enthusiastic young Australian. A 27-year old native of New South Wales taking her baccalaureate in Nursing and Health Science at the University of Sydney, Sinead has passed her extracurricular life as a remedial massage therapist, working with children, and backpacking around the globe. She is currently studying Naval Science and is a master of the TGE galley.

Saime Yildirim Saime Yildirim is a long-time resident of Gocek and an alternate TGE crew member, substituting for others when needed. A boutique shop owner specializing in Turkish curios, she is active in the community's organization and promotion of child and charitable events. Saime is Turkish, is fluent in English, likes to troll off the TGE's stern, and is a wonderful cook.

Sailing Greece. Paul Wolfowitz is the conceptual godfather of U.S. policy in Iraq. He is also an individual who has never served in uniform and who has never held a position in the private sector. That is, he has never seen combat up close and personal. Neither has he been a salesman, learning what works the hard way, nor a private-sector administrator, nor a manager. He has not even been employed in business! Business of any kind! Always cloistered in universities, think tanks, and Republican administrations, Wolfowitz was the first to propose regime change in Iraq, initially in a letter to President Clinton in 1998 and then, as Deputy Secretary of Defense, at a meeting of the National Security Council immediately following 911. He subsequently asserted that Iraq's conquest would be a walk-over, that the U.S. had no need of international support or assistance, that Iraqis would welcome U.S. forces with "open arms" (sic), and that Iraqi oil would pay the cost of reconstruction. He further assured the world that the sovereign Republic of Turkey would do as the United States told it to do. Proven wrong time and again, he continued to be dispatched to Iraq on fact-finding missions. Never admitting to the facts, Mr. Wolfowitz jumped ship. Like Enron's Jeffrey Skilling he appeared hopeful of avoiding criminal responsibility. Nominated by President Bush to head the World Bank, his nomination was eventually accepted by member countries, albeit reluctantly. At a time when confidence in the U.S. dollar had sunk to a potentially calamitous level, the president nominated to the World Bank an individual unaware of fiscal responsibility at a personal, corporate, or government level. At a time of international division the president nominated to the World Bank a principal catalyst of division. At a time of increasing gap between haves and have-nots, the president nominated to the World Bank an ambassador not of the have-nots but of the haves, an ambassador with absolutely no banking credentials. It was another instance of upside-down Bush Administration logic. This nomination was so incongruous one wonders whether a feature of the position was diplomatic immunity from prosecution, including war-crimes prosecution. The World Bank, an institution the mission of which is to fight poverty and improve living standards in the third world, and the world's poor both deserved more. Fortunately Wolfowitz subsequently imploded and has since been returned to the cloisters, sent back to the think tanks to think again. And like Chile's Augusto Pinochet he should be arrested and charged with war crimes the next time he sets foot outside of Fortress America.
